Our Mission
Welcome to Kasana Lake House – your retreat in the heart of the Ugandan jungle
Kasana Lake House is a newly opened holiday home that offers its guests an unforgettable experience in the midst of untouched nature. But our commitment goes far beyond hospitality - we are actively involved in the local community .
All proceeds stay in the country and go towards two important social projects : one part supports the Toonda community centre, which is only 200 metres from the house (toonda.org), while the other part goes to a football club in the Bukoto ghetto in Kampala, where children have the opportunity to take part in training free of charge (https://www.fcseefeld.club/partnerschule).
We are proud to make a positive difference through our commitment and to give back not only to our guests but also to the local community with every overnight stay .

We are committed to making a positive contribution to the local community with our income. After catering costs are covered, the rest of the proceeds go to the Kampala Galaxy Soccer Academy, which offers free soccer training to children and young people, regardless of their cultural background. Soccer not only serves as a sporting activity, but also as a bridge between cultures and as a means of building self-confidence and self-efficacy.
The remaining income goes directly to the community around Kasana Lake House. The nearby community project "Toonda", which creates a wide range of cultural activities for the region and is specifically committed to the education and support of children, young people and women.
If you are interested, we would be happy to provide visitors with direct contact with the two projects so that they can get an on-site impression of the valuable work that is being done there.

How The Project Started
The dream of a house on the crater lake
In just over three months, a very special house was built in the middle of Uganda , right on a crater lake - a community project that came from the heart . Over 50 local workers from the surrounding villages and volunteers from Germany and Switzerland worked together to make this dream come true. Leo Bauer was fully committed from start to finish and was the driving force on the construction site. From the wood for the furniture, to the fabrics and upholstery for the couch, as well as the works of art on the wall, everything came from local craftsmen and artists . Young men and women from the Seefeld district of Zurich worked energetically on the construction of the house.
This house is more than just a building – it is a place that shows how much can be achieved together when everyone pitches in.

The catering service was another highlight - the meals were fresh, delicious and prepared with love. Arali, the caretaker, gave us a deep insight into the local customs and conditions and we were absolutely delighted. Far away from the city, he also made us feel very safe and we were able to get involved in everything that was offered to us. Chimpanzee trekking is also an absolute recommendation. What a vacation, we are extremely enthusiastic and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to visit this country."
